WIN House SEASON 5 on DVD!
September 29, 2009
HOUSE SEASON 5 AND SEASONS 1-5 YOURS TO OWN AND ENJOY ON DVD
“House is the greatest hospital-based show ever…” Nuts
All is not well with egotistical, curmudgeonly, cynical, maverick, misanthropic, pill-popping, diagnostic genius Gregory House. Hugh Laurie returns to his Golden Globe-winning, Emmy Award-nominated role to suffer, torture, torment, and cure the apparently incurable in HOUSE Season 5. This must-have addition to the collection from Universal Playback releases on DVD on 5 October 2009, along with the box set HOUSE Seasons 1-5.
Grouchy but still strangely and seductively attractive, House constantly pushes new boundaries in medicine while dealing with emotional chaos, as personal and professional boundaries blur through the twenty-four gripping episodes from the compelling fifth season. Featuring guest appearances by Željko Ivanek (Damages, In Bruges, 24), Mos Def (The Italian Job, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and Carl Reiner (Ocean’s 11/12/13, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid), HOUSE is the Emmy Award-winning series that critics raved is “a terrific show with an A-list cast and first-rate writing” (New York Post) and that audiences made the most-watched show in the world.
Including the milestone 100th episode, Season 5 picks up where Season 4 left off. House and Wilson have repaired their friendship in the aftermath of Amber’s death, but House blames himself and believes Wilson blames him but is afraid to ask. Cuddy is fulfilling her dream of motherhood after adopting an infant girl. Foreman has started a relationship with Thirteen who continues to battle the deadly Huntington’s disease that threatens to shorten her life dramatically. House and Cuddy continue to determine exactly what type of relationship they share – if any. Wilson decides to leave the hospital, but is he really gone? Will he return? Will House change? Where will this fifth season take Cameron and Chase’s relationship?
Many questions will be answered … and many will not, as HOUSE SEASON 5 moves towards a series cliff-hanger to end all cliff-hangers … that is, until Season Six.

The Vampire Diaries Season 1 Episode 2 Review & Spoilers
September 21, 2009
So, after finding ourselves hooked half way through episode one of The Vampire Diaries we couldn’t wait to see how the series progressed. Needless to say, we weren’t disappointed and here’s why…
We open with a girl and a guy in a makeshift tent, making out and waiting to see the arrival of an extremely rare comet only visible once ever 140 years or so. The guy goes off to ‘get something from his car’ and the girl hears raindrops falling on the roof of the tent. Only we all know with Kevin Williamson around, it’s never just raindrops. Realising that it is of course blood dripping from the corpse in the tree above the girl runs screaming to the car which is locked and we hear the bleep-bleep of the remote resound sinisterly off camera. Oh Damon!
The tension between Elena and Stefan is mounting but when Elena pays an unannounced visit to Stefan’s grand manor house she’s shocked to find herself confronted with Damon who reveals to her some information about Stefan’s past relationship with Katherine. Damon is perfectly smarmy in this scene but it’s not until Stefan makes his appearance that you can really cut the tension with a knife. The whole scene is spent with Stefan and Damon locked in a death stare whilst exchanging fake pleasantries between themselves and a bewildered Elena who soon makes a hasty exit.
Stefan and Damon later launch into a ‘glamouring’ war over Vicky (she was attacked in the woods in the last episode) as she recovers in hospital, the conclusion of which leads to a dramatic standoff on a building rooftop where we see just how much more power Damon has than Stefan as he successfully controls Vicky’s thoughts to his own will. It is then revealed just how far Damon will go to get his brother to revert to his lifestyle of feeding from humans.
Stefen stands his ground and Damon backs down, but it is soon clear he has more plans in store for the town when he has a little rendezvous of his own with Elena’s friend Caroline.
Despite Elena and Stefan getting closer I think there’s going to be some major plot twists along the way. I wonder if we’ll ever see a softer side to Damon or if he is really all bad? The development of Elena’s other friend with the psychic abilities should also be an interesting one to watch, will she sense the truth about Stefan before Elena does?
My favourite cheesy yet awesome line from tonight’s episode was when Stefan and Elena were talking about what they wrote in their journals in two different scenes “we met and we talked and it was epic“ that line is SO Dawson’s Creek I can’t help but wonder if it is from the original book or if Kevin brought that one to the table himself. Either way, I almost got goosebumps!
The Vampire Diaries Makes Its Way To The CW Network
September 21, 2009
The Vampire Diaries is the hit new show launching on the CW (who also bring you gossip girl, supernatural and one tree hill) and is based on the young adult books first written by the fantastic L.J. Smith
Focusing on the lives of two very different brothers and their mutual affection for popular schoolgirl Elena Gilbert it looks set to take the world by storm as the desire for all things Vampire related rages on. L. J. Smith definitely knows her Vampire stuff and is not only the author of The Vampire Diaries series but also wrote the hugely successful Night World books which have now gained their own cult following.
Partially written and produced by Kevin Williamson (Dawson’s Creek, Scream) this is an exciting new TV series which embraces the laws and myths of vampires that we’re familiar with from recent shows like True Blood and movies such as Twilight and runs with them whilst developing its own cool ideas and drama along the way.
The basic cast list is below as shown on IMDB
Nina Dobrev - Elena Gilbert
Paul Wesley – Stefan Salvatore
Ian Somerhalder – Damon Salvatore
Steven R. McQueen – Jeremy Gilbert
Sara Canning – Jenna Somers
Katerina Graham – Bonnie Bennett
Candice Accola – Caroline Truitt
Zach Roerig – Matt Donovan
Kayla Ewell – Vicki Donovan
Michael Trevino – Tyler Lockwood
The Vampires Diaries Season 1 Pilot Review & Spoilers.
September 21, 2009
The hit new CW show The Vampire Diaries recently aired its pilot episode. Is it worth watching? Check out our Vampire Diaries Summary and read on for our initial thoughts, but be aware that the article does contain some spoilers…
We kick off with the classic creepy graveyard scene, swirling mist and a mighty big black crow (or is it a raven? I’m not entirely sure.) and are soon introduced to our main characters Elena Gilbert; the popular high school student whose parents died in a tragic accident and Stefan Salvatore a centuries old vampire who seems already strangely besotted with Elena. Confusing? Not really.
With the show being produced and partially written by Dawson’s Creek alum Kevin Williamson we spent the first half an hour half expecting Pacey to jump from the shadows and declare his undying love for Joey Potter look-alike Elena, but as the show progressed we found ourselves becoming strangely drawn to the characters. Either we’d been ‘glamoured’ or this show could actually be shaping up to be some compulsive viewing!
The introduction of Stefan’s evil yet seductive brother Damon only heightened our excitement; two dark and brooding vampire brothers! CW you are really spoiling us!
The chemistry between the two and the sense of a long standing resentment for one another came across brilliantly on screen and looks set to play a key part in future plotlines. Damon is clearly the stronger of the two vampires due to his willingness to feed on human blood but we feel that Stefan might still have a few tricks up his sleeve.
Set in the fictional town of ‘Mystic Falls’ Elena and her brother Jeremy live with their college aged Aunt Jenna who has a hard time finding a balance between playing the mother figure to the two teenagers and being their friend. It will be interesting to see this relationship pan out and hopefully watch as Jenna gets more of her own scenes…
This first episode sees Party girl Vicky attacked in the woods. It is later revealed that her attacker was Damon, and that he has his sights firmly set on causing trouble for his David Boreanaz doppelganger brother Stefan no matter what the cost. Jeremy’s attraction to Vicky becomes clear despite her relationship to the school jock as he comes bounding to her aid after her attack. Will this develop further?..
With Vicky in hospital, Elena drawn to Stephan, Stephan troubled by his brother Damon and Jeremy seemingly in self destruct mode we predict that The Vampire Diaries series is going to be one hell of a ride and it’s sure to be this season’s hottest viewing!
