Book Review: Relentless, By Simon Kernick

Relentless - Simon Kernick

Now this is not the kind of book you would expect to see reviewed on a site geared up for women, but this was such an amazing read, I just had to share it!

The fast-paced excitement begins when Tom Meron receives a phone call from his best friend who he hasn’t spoken to in years. It turns out to be a phone call that will change his life for ever. Jack Calley, a high-flying City lawyer, is screaming down the phone for help and as Tom listens Jack is murdered. His last words, spoken to his killer, are the first two lines of Meron’s address……. and this is where the traumatic events begin.

The story twists and turns with multiple events all going on at once with affairs, murder, and fear all rolled into two days of fury. The characters are wonderfully portrayed, yet even the reader falls into several instances of false security and bad guys turn good and good guys turn bad. The story is highly paced, well written and compelling….. you really cannot put it down!

Excitement and fear emerge with every chapter until the final pages of this quite literally relentless gallop through the second minutes and hours of a very unusual weekend for Tom and his family.

Although about as far from “Chick Lit” as you can get, this really is a book for anyone and everyone. Men and women alike will enjoy the thrill of the ride in this cracking page-turner. A big thumbs up from the Girlie Gossip team…. looking forward to Simon Kernick’s next novel!
