Bride Wars (2009) Movie Review

**** Warning may contain Spoilers****

Bride Wars is a well-paced chick flick that trades heavily in many ideals women harbor—a fancy wedding day been one of them.
Kate Hudson and Ann Hathaway well known for their light comedy roles star has two best friends; Liv and Emma who since childhood have planned their wedding day right down to the last little detail. At the top of their list of ‘must have’ is the ceremony at New York’s ultimate bridal destination, the Plaza Hotel.

Now, at age 26, they’re both about to get married; they’re about to realise their dreams; and they’re about to live happily ever after.
Or maybe not…

When a clerical error causes a clash in wedding dates – they’re now to be married on the same date.
Their friendship is truly put to the test when a clerical error threatens to destroy what they have been planning their whole lives.
Liv is a successful lawyer who is used to getting what she wants, including the perfect job and the perfect man, won’t settle for anything less than the perfect wedding she has dreamed of for years. Emma, a schoolteacher who has always been good at taking care of others, but not so much in looking after herself.  She eventually grows a backbone and discovers her inner bridezilla.

The film is not a typical girly film although it has everything you expect to see from a good chick flick, the plot has unique themes running throughout with classic light hearted humour woven into the narrative.
It is almost pleasant and heart warming with both Hudson and Hathaway managing to bring that extra little sparkle to the characters.

If you’re looking for a pop corn girly movie then seeing Bride Wars should be at the top of your list.
