Alice Temperley to judge the ‘best dressed’ on ladies day plus ethical brands take centre stage! Fashion is entering the ring next week at the historic Royal Bath & West Show.
The famous show, which celebrates the countryside and takes place from Wednesday 2 to Saturday 5 June at the showground near Shepton Mallet in Somerset, is organising its first-ever Ladies Day on Thursday 3 June, and has secured British designer of the moment, Alice Temperley to judge the best dressed ladies on the day.
Alice, who has strong roots in the West Country, having grown up on her parent’s cider farm in Somerset, will visit the Show in Somerset on Thursday to select the winner and says: “I’ll be looking out for highly creative but stylish designs that look attractive as well as eye-catching.”
In addition, the Bath & West Show is opening a new boutique-style marquee, ‘Green and Gorgeous’, within the flagship ‘EcoZone’, which will showcase the latest ethical fashion and accessories.
Companies exhibiting in ‘Green and Gorgeous’ include NV London Calcutta, which specialises in handmade, ethical accessories; Earth Origin, which creates handbags from natural materials, such as organic cotton and bamboo; and Aspara, the fairtrade company set up last year by the former UN field worker and aid consultant, Katy Pullen. Inspired by the revival of the silk weaving craft in Cambodia, after three decades of conflict, Pullen has accumulated a team of artisans from rural communities to weave the silks for her distinctive clutches, handbags, wraps and scarves.
