Hot Fashion From MTV’s The City!

The finale of the last season of  The Hills saw Lauren’s work-mate Whitney Port jet off to New York for an amazing job at Diane Von Furstenburg, and this Sunday saw the beginning of her very own series The City which will follow Whitney’s stylish forays in the Big Apple…New characters Erin and real-life Blair Waldorf, Olivia, and of course, Whitney will undoubtedly be offering us a wealth of delicious fashion and beauty on which to feast our eyes over the coming weeks.

Episode one shows Whitney begin her new job at DVF which takes her backstage at New York Fashion week, but it is outside work that we see some of the best outfits from Whitney this week. When she finally gets the chance to hook up with Australian musician Jay for a date, Whitney takes full advantage of the warm New York September, with a gorgeous backless silk dress. Knowing a good look when she sees it, Whitney once again bares her back, this time in a sparkly number, for uber-socialite Olivia’s roof-top dinner party.

Summer may seem like a million miles away, but we British girls are made of stronger stuff than letting ourselves miss out on a look because of the weather! Here are a few of my favourite backless dresses for getting Whitney’s New York look:

If you’re lucky enough to be shopping on the budget of an MTV star, look no further than this sequinned backless mini by Ashish, £675 from Browns. The low-draping back and shimmering black sequins are perfect for creating high-octane glamour.

For a more laid-back version of the look, Warehouse have created this elegant silk Kimono Sleeve Backless Dress, £65. Dress it down with some cute ballet flats, or dress it up with some chunky killer heels.

Trusty Topshop are in on the backless act with a range of strappy minis, with loosely draping backs from their Boutique collection. Priced at only £25, they’re a steal too!
