Joshua Radin Hits The UK!

Here at Girlie Gossip we are huge fans of American singer-songwriter Joshua Radin, so when we heard that he would be doing a number of shows here in the UK next month we were incredibly excited!..

Joshua Radin is fast becoming a true global word-of-mouth sensation. He was the first signing to Q Prime Management’s (Muse, Metallica, Mars Volta) own independent label Mom & Pop, and his new album Simple Times, produced by Rob Schnapf (Elliot Smith, Beck) has already sold 250,000 copies in the US out of the label’s offices alone. His Myspace site has amassed over 17 million plays worldwide and his website receives 1.8 million hits per month. Radin’s entire European tour in Spring 2009 sold out, including performances to over 1000 people in Berlin and Stockholm, all without the album’s physical release.

Cleveland-born Joshua Radin started out in New York trying to carve a career as a painter and screenwriter, before doing open mic nights in NYC – earning his reputation at the Bitter End and the Knitting Factory. When friend and actor/filmmaker Zach Braff heard a demo of Radin’s song ‘Winter’, he placed it on the hit show Scrubs. Four more songs were later used on the show and Braff directed and appeared in Radin’s first promo – Radin returning the favour and appearing in the movie Garden State. Since then, Radin has toured with Tori Amos and Imogen Heap, and has a celebrity fan in Ellen DeGeneres who requested Radin performed at her wedding in 2008, following a performance on her show, turning down an offer from Justin Timberlake in favour of Radin.
