Kangol’s luxe collections incorporate an array of premium materials and shapes, mirroring the Autumn Winter shows which were awash with an assortment of headwear. Whether a pork pie shape, an animal print design, or an exaggerated wide brim, designers opted for hats to give a final flourish to the amazing texture and deep colours that are synonymous with the season.
First up is the brand’s growing Made in the USA collection, a variable feast of pattern and colour. The ever-popular Swirl Wool Siren, a wide-brimmed fedora style, and Swirl Wool Bombin, a feminine take on the bowler, are created by hand feeding two colours of wool together to give adusted finish.
The Dapper Felt and Straw styles play with mixed media in trilby, player and cloche shapes. Merging elements of straw and felt topped with grosgrain ribbon head bands makes for impressively luxdesigns. Begging to be touched, fur felt is used in animal prints on fashion-forward colette and cloche shapes and finally, classic basics are given a rich twist in thick felt and short fur.
The Made In England collection consists of a trio of premium hats created in the UK paying homage to Kangol’s British heritage. All three hats come in five different cloths with a focus on tweeds.The Ogden Check fabric has flashes of bold blue and orange woven into the otherwise grey tweed, and the Marton Melange is a rich earthy brown. Two baker boy styles are accompanied bya female counterpart – a jaunty colette named ‘Chloe’ which will give any outfit an instant edge.
