Look Great in Any Photo With These Tips

When a friend pulls their camera out, we’re not always prepared for the photoshoot that awaits us. Whether the occasion is a birthday, christening, or rare get together, you’re always going to have one friend who wants to document every 2 seconds of the occasion. These tips will ensure that you always look great, in any photo!

Make Sure Your Makeup is on Point

If you want to look great, your makeup needs to be on point. However, you don’t need to be a professional makeup artist. All you need to do is make sure that your foundation matches the rest of your body, or the camera flash could show this off. You should also consider using pencil on your brows, and curling your lashes. Your eyes will be the focal point of the photograph, so make sure you enhance them. You don’t want to go OTT, but you don’t want to look washed out either. Some makeup is especially made for camera flashes!

Know Your Best Side

Know your best side so you can make sure you show it off in pictures. It’s always advisable that you stand slightly side on for pictures, as it’s far more flattering than standing straight on. Put your hand on your hip too, to emulate the classic celebrity red carpet pose. It really helps to make you look slimmer!

Practice Your Best Smile

We all have varying levels of smiles that we show off depending on how happy we are and things, so practice your best smile. Know what it feels like to do, so that you know you’re doing it when you’re confronted with a camera.

Have the Camera Above You, if Possible

If possible, have the phototaker hold the camera higher up than you. Having the camera lower will emphasize any flaws, especially double chins.

Learn how to ‘Smize’

Smiling with your eyes has been coined the ‘smize’ by supermodels everywhere. You don’t do a full smile, you simply make it look convincing with your eyes. It takes practice, but anyone can do it. This is a great pose to try if you’re doing a sexy photoshoot, like those here.

Good Posture

Good posture is an absolute must for pictures. Make sure you’re standing up straight with your shoulders back and chest out. You should also try to elongate your neck, as this will eliminate any sign of a double chin.

Find a Light Background

Having your picture taken against a light background will show off your face more. You’ll look far more vibrant – almost as if you’re glowing!

Watch the Light Around You

You should never stand directly under a light, as this will cast shadows on your face. If possible, stand so that natural light hits you side on and creates a soft glow.
