Pretty Woman Dress From Peacocks

Peacocks, the UK’s hottest value fashion retailer reveals that one of the most famous dresses in Rom Com history is celebrating a revival following hundreds of customer calls enquiring about its ‘Pretty Woman’ dress.

Peacocks’ brown polka dot dress £35 stormed straight to number one best selling dress after first launching on April 7th in selected stores and online. The dress is part of the retailer’s new premium brand, Peacocks by Design, offering customers catwalk looks at great value and quality.  It was only when customers started to refer to the dress as “the Pretty Woman”, that Peacocks realized its striking resemblance to the iconic dress worn by actress Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman’s famous polo scene.  After 20 years, the film which saw Richard Gere voted the ‘sexiest man alive’ by People Magazine is still the world’s biggest grossing romantic comedy. Second orders of the dress have had to be brought forward to avoid disappointing customers who are looking to attract their own Richard Gere during the social season (although perhaps more likely to be in Holyhead than Hollywood). Antonella Bettley, Head of Peacocks by Design said: “There are a few movie outfits that strike a note with the audience and become classics; Marilyn Monroe’s dress in Some Like It Hot, Marlon Brando’s cap in On The Waterfront and Julia Roberts’ polka dot dress in Pretty Woman. We noticed the dress was a hit sales-wise but it wasn’t until customers started calling customer services asking for the ‘Pretty Woman’ dress that we realised why it was selling so well.”
