Radley + Co. are delighted to announce that they have raised £34,300 for British Heart Foundation through their very first bag amnesty event! This campaign promoted the concept of neutral shopping and involved customers donating any unwanted handbag to their local Radley store. Radley rewarded customers with a £40 discount off of a new handbag of their choice, priced £120 or more. People flooded to Radley stores to donate their handbags with over 2,000 being collected and sent to British Heart Foundation stores around the UK, which are in much need of quality donated stock.
The idea of giving and neutral shopping is becoming increasingly common with the shift in consumer’s attitudes to shopping.
The event saw great quality bags being donated, such as Juicy Couture, Valentino and Jaeger. Consumers were offered a way to give an old handbag a new life while helping a very worthy cause and treating themselves to a beautiful new bag from Radley’s Spring collection at a discounted price. Less people are looking for the ‘must have’ item that once drove people in hordes to the high street. More consumers are now developing a sensitive approach to shopping and giving something back – as seen in the generous Bag Amnesty donations.
Radley were delighted at the opportunity to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation, and the success of the event means the money raised will support the charity’s valuable work in saving lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information about heart and circulatory disease.
Giving something back heralds a new generous and caring approach to consumer shopping and people’s approach to charities. Radley intend for this to be a yearly event and looks forward to keeping up this new approach to shopping.
