Regular readers of my blog will be aware that I am going through a bit of a health kick at the moment. A little more exercise, a lot more water, and some healthy eating are making me feel so much better. And, while I have been in the company of friends, weight loss and fitness has been a regular topic of conversation.
One of the points that came up was about how rapid weight loss can cause problems for older women. As you age, your skin starts to lose its elasticity. So, if you shed weight quickly, it can cause sagging. With this in mind, I thought I’d put together some tips on how to deal with this common issue that, one day, many women will experience.
Start as you mean to go on
Now, if you want to delay the aging process somewhat, then you need to start taking care of your skin sooner rather than later. There are many factors that can contribute to your skin beginning to sag and develop wrinkles, and many of them are avoidable. Smoking has an aging effect, and so does too much exposure to the sun. Also, the healthier food that you eat, the longer you will keep your youthful appearance. There will be occasions that are unavoidable – pregnancy, for example, or when you lose a lot of weight. However, if you have been taking care of yourself over the years, then the impact will be lessened a little.
Get some work
I’m not going to recommend cosmetic surgery here – that’s a personal decision, and you may or may not want to go down that road. However, there are alternatives that will enable you to fix sagging skin issues that don’t involve going under the knife. Take a look around for some non-surgical skin tightening clinics in your area and see what type of treatments are available. Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler treatments are widely available for those that want them. Because of the enormous rise in popularity, the price of those treatments is dropping by the year. Just make sure that wherever you go is reputable and has a medical background.
There are many natural remedies out there that can help you lift up any facial sagging, without the need for a visit to the clinic. Many of the solutions can be found at your local shopping store, so although not every treatment will work for you, it won’t be expensive to experiment. Egg white is a good example. You just need to spend a little time to separate the whites from the yolks of one or two eggs and whisk it up. Once it is a lovely foamy texture, you can apply it to your face and leave it for around 20 minutes before washing off. If you do this a couple of times a week, you should start to feel your face firming up a little as the hypo lipids found in eggs begin to work their magic. I hope you have found this helpful. Let me know if you have any success!
