This May sees the highly anticipated blockbuster Great Gatsby take to cinema screens, where in Scott Fitzgerald’s original novel, on a day that is “certainly the warmest of the summer”, Jay Gatsby pours Gin Rickey cocktails full of ice in a moment of whirlwind romance.

35ml Tanqueray London Dry

25ml Apricot Liqueur

Soda Water

Fresh Lime

Method: Pour the ingredients into a shaker and the juice of half a lime and shake vigorously. Pour over ice into a highball glass and top with soda. Garnish with a slice of lime.

35ml Tanqueray London Dry Gin

15ml Sugar Syrup

25ml Fresh Lime Juice

8 Fresh Mint Leaves

Soda Water

Frozen Cranberries

Method: Smash a mint sprig, add to the sugar syrup, Tanqueray and lime in a highball and mix together with crushed ice. Top off with soda, garnish with a sprig of mint and add optional cranberries for extra jazz.

Half a Lemon

15ml of Sugar Syrup

40ml of Champagne

Ice Cubes

Method: Pour Tanqueray into a shaker, crush half a lemon and add the juice to the mix, add the sugar syrup and ice cubes and shake. Double strain into a coupette glass and top up with champagne. Twist the peel of a lemon over the glass.

Celebrate the much anticipated release of The Great Gatsby film with an evening of Art Deco glamour with a unique dining experience aboard the vintage British Pullman train and a night at the iconic Savoy hotel. After a Gin Rickey cocktail, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s favourite tipple, at The Savoy’s ‘American Bar’ guests are whisked off to London Victoria station for a wonderful seasonal ‘tasting dinner’ aboard the Art Deco vintage carriages of the British Pullman originally from the 1920s and 1930s. This era was the heyday of luxury train travel and the carriages built in this period were the most comfortable, elegant and sumptuous ever constructed which ties in with the decadent style depicted in The Great Gatsby.

Guests return to The Savoy, overlooking the River Thames, to spend a night in a Deluxe Room at this Art Deco landmark that once played host to the author of this American classic F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda.

‘The Dinner’ will depart from London Victoria on 5th September, a special 1920s Dinner departs on 24th October and the Laurent-Perrier Dinner departs on 14th November all from London Victoria.
