Let’s face it, we all have an unhealthy habit lurking about somewhere. Whether it’s an addiction to chocolate or drinking a bit too much at the weekend, there’s something most of us want to change in our lives. We’ve rounded up some of the worst unhealthy habits and how you can kick them to the curb.

Junk Food

Hands up, who eats too much junk food? Most of us will find ourselves reaching into the snack cupboard far more than is healthy for us. Whatever your secret penchant is for, eating too much junk food is bad for you. If you want to kick this unhealthy habit, then you’re going to need to empty those cupboards. Get rid of anything that’s too sugary and replace with healthier options instead. Nuts and fruit should take the place of chocolate and crisps. It’s okay to treat yourself once in a while, but not to a whole share bag by yourself!

Binge Drinking

Here’s another thing that many of us are guilty of. We’ve worked hard all week and when the weekend gets here it can be easy to let loose. Too loose. Binge drinking leads to a whole load of problems; from embarrassment to health issues. Not only that but binging on junk food comes part and parcel with a hangover. You can kick this unhealthy habit by knowing your limits and sticking to them. Offer yourselves rewards for only drinking one bottle of wine on that girls’ night out – and avoiding the jager bombs! Don’t forget to have a glass of water in between each drink, too. Not only will this stop you from drinking too much but it’ll curb the hangover as well.

Smoking

Smokers know that their habit is a bad one, but nothing seems to stop them from doing it. Smoking may be one of the hardest habits to kick, but it’s not completely impossible. We’re not going to bang on about the health hazards of smoking because we know you’re probably aware of them all. However, if you want to kick this unhealthy habit for good then you’re going to need some support. Read up on the benefits of alternatives at places such as a vape blog or the NHS website. Join a local support group and tell your friends you’re trying to quit. The support you get will be invaluable in helping you kick the habit.

Being Lazy

We’re all guilty of being lazy sometimes – some more than others. Motivating yourself to head to the gym or go for a run can seem like an almost-impossible task. However, being lazy can present a ton of health problems that are far worse in the long run. Make an exercise plan and stick a copy everywhere you can. On the calendar, on the bathroom mirror and even on your bedroom door. You’ll not be able to avoid the constant reminder that you need to do something energetic!

More Serious Habits

There are, of course, more serious habits that are bad for your health. If you think you’re struggling with an addiction then you need to speak to your doctor right away. They will be able to provide you with the help and support needed to get back on track.
