More and more men are taking an interest in health and beauty products. In response to this, the male beauty industry is bigger than ever. With the huge range of instruments, lotions and potions to choose from it can be difficult to determine what you need and what you don’t. To avoid coming home with the whole shop, here are the essentials that every well-groomed gent should have in his wash bag.
1 .A good hair product
Whether you are rocking a crew cut or a pompadour or a long mane, there is a product that can enhance every style. Wax is perfect for keeping medium and short hairstyles in place and to give them texture. If you have a have curls, a serum will tame them, leaving them looking glossy and touchable. If you are unsure how to get the best out of your hairstyle, ask your hairdresser for advice. They will suggest the right product for your hair.
2 .A face moisturiser
Every gent should use a face moisturiser. Your face is exposed to the elements on a daily basis, and a good product can help protect your skin and leave it looking and feeling soft and healthy. The type of moisturiser you use will depend on the type of skin you have. Do you have normal, dry, oily or combination? If you are unsure, do your research or ask at a department store beauty counter. Make sure you get a moisturiser that includes a high SPF to protect your skin from sun damage.
3 .A lip balm
Cracked, chapped lips neither look nor feel good. Both winter and summer conditions can wreak havoc with your kisser. To make sure they remain healthy, apply a unscented and clear lip balm, such as vaseline, once or twice a day. As with your moisturiser, it is a good idea to choose a product that contains sun protection.
4 .A shaving kit
Beards are back in a big way. Whether you are going for the sharp or laid-back look, both crave the care of quality male grooming products. Your shaving kit at a minimum should include a razor, a brush, shaving cream and aftershave lotion. Serious beard groomers may also wish to add a beard comb and scented oil to their kits.
5 .A pair of nail clippers or scissors
Long, ragged or dirty nails are never a good look; nor are they hygienic. Invest in a pair of good quality nail clippers that will do the job of keeping your nails clean, short and tidy.
6. A pair of tweezers or trimmers
We can just see your eyes watering at the mention of these devices. But you know what they say: no pain, no gain! Avoid the dreaded case of the unibrow with your tweezers and remove any unsightly nasal hairs. If you can’t handle the pain, use trimmers instead.
Use these items as the basis of your grooming kit and build on them as you please. If you can’t afford to buy them all at once, ask for them at special occasions such as Father’s day. With these essentials, you can ensure you look sharp and handsome every day. Happy grooming guys!
