Christmas is a wonderful time of year. It’s a time for you to spend with the people you love. Festivities are important. In fact, the Christmas holidays are some of the most anticipated of any holiday. It’s the main time of the year that families and loved ones get together en masse and enjoy each other’s company. It’s a time of hope, joy and merriment. It can also be a time of new beginnings. Everybody should feel the magic of Christmas, but not everyone does.
However, if you do, it might be a good idea to try to get some of that Christmas spirit to rub off. When you go to work, you should bring the festive cheer with you. Of course, you need to remain professional, and still be able to do your job. But there’s nothing wrong with trying to inject a little Christmas spirit into the office.
Here are some excellent ways you can bring Christmas festivities to your workplace.
Decorate Your Desk
The first place you can start is with your desk. Now remember, it still needs to remain functional and professional looking. So make sure you adhere to the office guidelines. But there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to decorate your desk in some festive decorations. Think about hanging tinsel and ribbon. Perhaps you want to put some Christmas figures or models on the desk. Of course, you’ll want to go for a festive colour scheme, i.e. lots of red and green. You could even have smatterings of silver and gold in there too.
It’s important to try to get your colleagues involved in the Christmas spirit. And many of them will be already. But for the odd Grinch out there you might have to make a special effort! Start off by sending Christmas cards to everybody in the office. You could either hand these out personally, or you could send them anonymously. If you visit BestHolidayCards.com you’ll discover a vast variety of cards to choose from. You should be able to find something to reflect the personalities of all your work colleagues.
You can take things one step further by attempting to introduce Secret Santa into the workplace. This is a formula where everybody draws a name out of a hat, and they buy a gift for that person. There’s a set value, so make it something sensible and inexpensive to allow more people to join in. Usually, the value will be around five or ten pounds. So you can always buy the classic Secret Santa gift type of bath or shower products. The advantage of doing Secret Santa is that it means everybody gets a present, and everybody buys a present.
Christmas is such a wonderful time, and it’s the perfect time for people to come together and be nice to one another. There’s no doubt there will be other people in your workplace who love Christmas as much as you. So don’t be afraid to show off your love for such a magical time of year. You should try to be persuasive in bringing Christmas festivities to the workplace, but don’t be too pushy.
