Guys, it is happening. The summer is over, and autumn has arrived. Before you know it, winter will be here, too. The thought of the winter freeze fills me with dread because the cold and I do not get along. I hate feeling cold because it is crippling. Unfortunately, living in Britain there isn’t much I can do about it but get on with life.
Still, every now and again I like to treat myself at winter time. It might not be enough to leave the cold weather for good, but the thought of it does get you through those darks days. What am I talking about? I am talking about taking a winter break, of course.
So, keep those beach bods in check because you might still need them yet.
The great thing about Australia is that it is upside down. Okay, it might not be upside down, but it is a part of the Southern Hemisphere. That means that while we sit at home freezing to death in the winter, they are sat on the beach enjoying their summer. Simply put, the seasons are the opposite way around. In all honesty, anywhere in Australia is a great place to visit, but Sydney is the jewel in the crown.
India is still in the Northern Hemisphere, but its weather patterns don’t play by the same rules. India doesn’t have any seasons to speak of, apart from the wet season and the dry season. The dry season dominates the majority of the year, even what we know as winter. So, even in November or December most of India would still be piping hot. Mumbai, as well as being warm, is one of the most multicultural places in India to visit. The Gateway of India, The Taj Mahal Palace, and Mumbai’s chaotic train system are just a few of the sights worth experiencing.
Chile is an unbelievable place to visit during their summer because there is a range of things to do, including winter sports. Oh yes, you can go skiing in Chile in the summer. Portillo, the first South American resort to hold the Skiing World Championships, opens up in June and goes until the start of December. By that time, the weather is getting hotter and hotter, so you can enjoy skiing in the summer. All you need to find are a cheap pair of used skis for sale, and you are ready to hit the slopes in your shorts and t-shirt! It is worth it just to tell your friends.
Cape Town, South Africa
Again, a city that will be basking in the sunshine from November to March, but also one that is full of dangerous activities. Are you intrigued? Well, if you have the guts, you can always go diving with Great White Sharks in the summer. Just off the coast of Cape Town is a hotspot for Great Whites. And, summertime is the best time to see the daily battle between them and their slippery seal adversaries.
