With touring productions currently in South Africa, Spain, Japan, USA and an English language tour which is in its 7th year of worldwide touring, “MAMMA MIA!” shows no sign of waning, with new productions opening this year for the first time in French, Italian, Danish and Portuguese for productions in Paris, Milan, Copenhagen and Sao Paolo. The smash-hit musical based on the songs of ABBA celebrated its 11th London birthday in April this year, and has now been seen by more than one in ten of the UK population. The show continues to break box office records at the Prince of Wales Theatre, holding the highest ever weekly gross taken in a week at that theatre in history. To date MAMMA MIA! has grossed £185 million at the UK Box Office and over $2 billion worldwide. Immortalised in the film starring Meryl Streep, “MAMMA MIA!” was the highest grossing musical film release worldwide.
