With the summer holidays coming to an end, I thought I’d share with you some of the things we got up to and the fantastic products we tried. As usual, the hot weather didn’t last very long and we ended up having quite a few rainy days indoors. However, the days we did spend out in the sunshine were great! Here’s what we got up to…
Cinema Fun With Disney’s Finding Dory
We are all massive Disney fans and as my children have grown, I’ve loved watching their faces light up as they discover all the classic movies that brought me such joy when I was a child. I have to admit, I was very excited to go and watch Finding Dory! This was Connor’s first trip to the cinema and being a very active four-year-old, I honestly didn’t think he would sit still very long. But to my surprise, he was glued to the movie and didn’t move an inch! Connor insisted on taking Dory and Hank from The Disney Store along for the outing, and when we got home he really enjoyed using his Finding Dory Stationary set to create some masterpieces of his favorite characters. If you haven’t seen the movie yet then I highly recommend it!
Walks In The Countryside
We are very lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country (Somerset) It’s so lovely to watch the kids running around in the fields and discovering nature. We had quite a few snail races and bug hunts. We also live right by the beach and enjoyed days paddling in the sea and eating fish and chips.
Arty Fun With Bamboo Spark
This summer, we discovered this fantastic gadget that has made life so much easier! Bamboo Spark allows you to create your own notes or artwork and then simply hit a button and transfer it to your phone or tablet. This is perfect for sending artwork the kids have created to their grandparents and family that don’t live close by. I even used this to write out my shopping lists then send it to my phone. I love that it’s so simple to use. You can buy Bamboo Spark HERE.
Rainy Day Fun With Cool Cards & Littlest Pet Shop Shuffle Cards
Since seeing the Cool cards ad on the telly, Chloe has been nagging me to buy it. Being very artistic, Chloe loves creating her own masterpieces. This clever set lets you not only create cards for your family and friends, but you can even add a scratch sticker to the card so they have to scratch to reveal the secret message hidden underneath! The set also comes with jewels, stamps and other stickers to make the cards even more spectacular. Chloe had hours of fun with this. You can buy CoolCards HERE.
Chloe has been a huge fan of Littlest pet shops for a few years now and she loves to collect them all. Unlike the classic card games, this one is a little different. The aim of the game is to pick up cards that lead you to where the pets are hiding. The first person to get all 7 pets wins! Even Connor who is only 4 picked this up really quickly and they have been playing it every day since! You can even get the Shuffle App too! You can buy the Shuffle Cards HERE.
Picnic At The Park
Both kids enjoyed our picnics in the park. Not only did they bump into their friends from school/nursery, but they also made some new friends as well. The park we live near also has a huge pond where my husband likes to fish. The kids were able to feed the ducks and even catch some fish with their Dad!
Personalised Notebooks From It’s Your Story
Chloe loves to sing. Like most little girls, she spends hours singing into her hairbrush. When I came across these fantastic personalised notebooks I just had to get her one. The easy to use website lets you upload an image of your child and choose the theme. Chloe has spent much of her free time this summer writing down song lyrics in her new notebook. You can buy these and other personalised items HERE. With Christmas not too far off, these would make fantastic stocking fillers!
Fun Victorian Era Books
Chloe’s favorite subject at school History and she particularly loves the Victorian Era. When I came across these fun books, I knew she would love them. These books make learning much more fun and Chloe couldn’t believe some of the facts were true! I think it made her realise how lucky she is to be born in the 21st century. I really wish they did books like this when I was at school! Since Chloe enjoyed these books so much, I will definitely be buying some of the other books that focus on different periods in history. You can find these books and more HERE.
Thunderbirds Inflatable Pool
With the typical British weather never knowing what it’s doing, this Thunderbirds inflatable pool is perfect for sunny or rainy days! Connor had so much fun in the garden splashing around pretending he was in a real transporter aircraft! You can also fill the pool with balls and let your little one play indoors when the weather is bad. You can buy these HERE.
Hope you are all having a fantastic summer! Let us know what keeps your kids entertained in the comments!
